Susie snoozes through the legistlative process in the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh, where lawmakers were voting on a bill that would increase the penalty for malicious abuse, torture or killing of an animal. Susie, a pit bull-German shepherd mix, still has the scars of a horrific assault she endured when she was 8 weeks old. Susie was burned, beaten and left for dead.

People that do that to an animal should face the death penalty instead.
